An Evening in BergenFor a city which has more than 350 days of rains in a year, we were extremely lucky to have beautiful weather on both days. I think we owed it to the goodluck charm (Cristina)we brought along with us
Lit up Against the SkyAn old building in Bergen creates a beautiful picture against the evening sky
Cultural night in BergenThe night that we landed was the cultural night in Bergen with alot of museums being open till late night and musicians performing and leading the crowd to various attractionsOne such attraction at night
The view of Bergen from FloibanenYa we took the last cable car up, enjoyed a hillarious banter exchange between a European group and an American one, were accompanied by the beautiful couple Michael and Utah, and were greeted by the best views from the top
Another view of Bergen from Floibanen
The Northern Lights Once againSometimes you got to be lucky and then you got to have the eye to spot the Northern lights. While a lot of souls climbed up the Floibanen in search of the elusive Northern lights, a walk through the woods on the way down gave us an opportunity to click this one. Ya we made a few poor souls walk in the woods late night ( specially Uta with her sore ankle) but everyone was happy to see the Northern Lights! And Yes thank you Cristina for letting us know about the possibility of seeing Northern lights
ReflectionsThe morning after the town was asleep, exhausted from the late night partying. I walked the streets alone and the city presented me with views that might have eluded me otherwiseI had beer once in England. They called it Pint
Remenants of the PartyTraces of a late night party in the Bergen Pub
TiredEven the chairs doze off at this early hour. They had a late night waiting on the crowd enjoying the cultural night. The window pane set in the brick lined wall reflect the morning that Bergen is going to experience.
Black & White The Bryggen - UNESCO world heritage site in Black and white. The old wharf of Bergen, is a reminder of the town’s importance as part of the Hanseatic League’s trading empire from the 14th to the mid-16th century. Many fires, the last in 1955, have ravaged the characteristic wooden houses of Bryggen. Its rebuilding has traditionally followed old patterns and methods, thus leaving its main structure preserved, which is a relic of an ancient wooden urban structure once common in Northern Europe. Today, some 62 buildings remain of this former townscape
A shop in BryggenA close up of a Bryggen shop - seen early morning
BergenhusThe Bergenhus fortress which protects the Harbour of Bergen stands tall in the morning sunlight.
ReflectionsThe pretty sight of the buildings in white, Boats in red anchored aside, what can be more dramatic thought I, Wait and watch said the artist as he added the clouds in the sky!
Left Out to DryThe vivid colored clouds, the old white buildings, boats colored bright and the perfectly still sea... it seemed as if an artist had just painted this on a fresh piece of canvas and had left it out to dry
Another Watercolor PhotographAs the Sun rose in the East, the colors transformed, the clouds dispersed and the sky turned a shade of red and grey - forming another masterclass painting in front of me. All i could do was try and capture it's true sense in my camera for others to see
A Doorway to the Hidden WorldA few cute doors, catch your attention even in the drowsy state that you are in and you just cant help but photograph them
Fall is on it's WayFall starts making it's presence felt.
WendelboeThe streets of Bergen were a photographers delight :) Pastel colored houses, cobbled pathways and beautiful windows :) There are many of these paths that i captured
Empty StreetsThe beautiful streets of Bergen.. And probably the only time when I didn't see anyone running on them.. This tree-lined street in the middle of the city was a pleasant sight I the early morning
FloibanenFloibanen the cable car station to Mt. Floyen and our starting point for the night photographs of Bergen... The cable car gives awesome views of the Bergen city while climbing up
The Bergen SquareThe Bergen square, peaceful only in this time of the morning and the only time I saw it completely deserted.
Humor in the WindowsA set of creative and humorous paintings displayed in an art shop on the streets.
Streets of BergenAnother street view of Bergen. I never get tired of roaming around the streets of any new city and capturing the nuances of them :) Its a wonderful feeling to try and capture the essence of the place
To be or not to BEEShakespeare edited and the photographer illustrated
